Yes, this really is in the desert. And, yes, that's what passes for a city skyline out here, with those being about as "high rise" as you'll see (okay, so there are taller buildings in downtown Phoenix ... but not by much). :)

Amazing Sculptures Made of Paper

Allen and Patty Eckman have been creating incredible paper sculptures since 1987. This post showcases some of their breathtaking creations.

The artists first cast paper pulp into clay molds and apply vacuum pressure to remove the water. Then the casts are removed from the molds and the long process of sculpting in paper and detailing begins.

Stone House in Portugal

Inspired by the Flintstones cartoons, this stunning house was constructed between two giant stones on the hillside of Fafe mountains in Portugal.

Because of its unusual design, the house attracts many tourists from all over the world. [photos by Feliciano Guimaraes.

Pedal Powered Submarine

Scubster is a human powered personal submarine made from carbon fiber.

Designed by Stephane Rousson to take part in next year’s International Submarine Race, the sub currently travels at a maximum speed of 6 mph and can reach depths of 20 feet. [photos by Terence Dewaele.
